Content policy

What we list

Public events in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties that someone can attend by showing up, registering or buying a ticket: business and chamber events, conferences, workshops, ribbon cuttings, fundraisers, volunteer opportunities, public government meetings, celebrations, festivals, markets, family events, lectures, seasonal events, sports, health programs and cultural gatherings. Online events count when a local organization hosts them.

What we don't list

• Private parties, invitation-only events and members-only meetings with no public option.
• Multi-level-marketing pitches, timeshare presentations and sales seminars presented as networking or education.
• Ongoing business hours, sales and promotions that are not events.
• Events outside the two counties, unless they are run by a local organization for a local audience.
• Anything that is illegal, hateful or harassing.

Accuracy and corrections

Every listing links to its source and shows when it was last verified. Organizers can claim a listing to edit it directly. Anyone can report a problem or request a removal; we act on valid requests within 48 hours and hide the listing from search engines while we review.

Images

We prefer images supplied by organizers. Images taken from a source page are stored with attribution and removed on request. Stock and Wikimedia Commons photos are used for region and category pages with their license noted.
